pre/post care and stages of healing

before your appointment

In order for fresh micro-pigmentation to heal properly and look sharp, one must follow the pre-care instructions. Pre-care instructions are designed to limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service. Excessive bleeding during the procedure will dilute the pigment color and lead to poor, healed results. Pigment, when mixed with blood, will change the color result, appearing more ashy/cool/purple.

HOW TO INSURE MINIMAL BLEEDING

  • Do not work out 24 HOURS prior to service. The body can burn up to 36 hours after the workout and body heat expands the pores making it harder to retain the pigment.
  • No alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or Pepto-Bismol 48 HOURS before service appointment. This may cause thinning of the blood.
  • No caffeine THE DAY OF your appointment - it may make you jittery. Although it isn't a blood thinner, it will increase your blood pressure, which may cause more bleeding.
  • Avoid sun and tanning on face for 2 WEEKS prior to your appointment. I will not work on compromised skin.
  • Avoid fish oil, pre-natal vitamins, nutritional shakes, and "hair-skin-nails" supplements. They can increase bleeding time or thin the blood.
  • Discontinue Retin-A, chemical and laser peels, microdermabrasion, Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and any chemical exfoliants or "brightening" skincare at least 6 WEEKS prior to appointment. (Once healed, avoid use of these products near the worked area for prevention of premature fading.)
  • Botox and fillers on the forehead, temple, and eye area should be done 3 WEEKS prior or 2 MONTHS after the procedure. Symmetry can be hard to balance with too much botox.
  • No waxing, tinting, or threading 1 WEEK prior to procedure. The more natural hair (brows) you have the better, and waxing may also cause a breakout.
  • PLEASE NOTE - One may be more sensitive during their menstrual cycle!
  • Clients who smoke cigarettes have delayed wound healing and accelerated skin aging. Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide which displaces the oxygen in your skin, and nicotine, which reduces blood flow, leaving skin dry and discolored.

PERMANENT MAKEUP

DAY 1 - ABSORB - Gently blot area with a clean tissue to absorb any fluid.

DAY 2-7 - WASH/MOISTURIZE - Use finger tip and light touch to wash each day with provided cleanser, gently pay dry. Apply rice grain size of aftercare 3x a day or as needed. Be sure area is DRY before moisturizing.

DAY 7-28 - Repeat days 2-7 as needed!

IN THE FIRST WEEK

  • Avoid getting the area wet. Do not submerge in water or go swimming.
  • Avoid exposing the area to the sun or UV rays, including tanning beds.
  • Avoid steam, saunas, heat, water, or heavy workouts, causing sweat.
  • Apply ointment as recommended by technician/as needed to keep the area from drying out.
  • Do NOT touch the area with your hands! Apply ointment with a Q-tip, only.
  • On day 3-4 scabs will develop in the area. Blot them. Do NOT wipe at or pick them off!
  • Avoid lip balms and makeup products on or near the area

AFTER THE FIRST WEEK

  • You will notice epithelial crust forming on the area. It will fall off naturally. Scrubbing or picking can remove the pigment underneath.

AFTER TWO WEEKS

  • You cleanse and wear makeup regularly if the treated area has healed properly. Do not scrub the area.
  • Always use sunblock on the treated area to prevent pre-mature color fading.
  • Always avoid Retin-A, Glycol acids, Neosporin, and the sun or tanning beds on the treated area -- Even after it has healed.
  • Eyebrows require a touch up at 4-8 weeks to perfect the shape and color. If you feel your lips need a touch up please reach out to schedule. (4+ weeks after initial appt).

DO NOT

  • Work out for 48 hours after procedure.
  • No sauna, swimming, or pools until scabs are completely gone and area is healed.
